After achieving early commercial success, he moved to Zambia in 2013 to focus on Health Hope Zambia, a charity through which he developed the country's largest malnutrition hospital and not-for-profit ambulance and mobile medical clinic service.

Mr Collerson is recognised for his work in the field of earth sciences, with expertise in discovering new ethically sourced supplies of critical minerals. He has specialised knowledge of rare earth and critical metal mineral systems, as well as trace element and isotope analytical techniques. In the 1980s, as a consultant to Union Oil, he determined that the Mount Weld carbonatite, now operated by Lynas Rare Earths Limited, was post-Archaean in age. He also provided geochemical consulting services to Pacific Wildcat Resources Corporation for the Mrima Hill carbonatite regolith-hosted REE-Nd deposit in Kenya. During research in the 1970s, he discovered the peralkaline igneous suite that hosts the Strange Lake heavy REE-rich deposit on the border of Labrador and Quebec.
