About Lendlease Group
Lendlease Group (ASX: LLC) is an international property development and construction business operating across Australia, the Americas, the UK, Europe, and Asia.
The business comprises three segments: development, investments, and construction. The company is in the transition phase from being a development-led to an investments-led business with capital being reweighted to its investments segment.
This strategy stems from a period where the company's future pipeline was so large, it could not be funded from its own balance sheet. The group is selling stakes in its projects to its funds management clients as well as seeking joint venture partners. This move sacrifices development profit, in return for management fees, reduced risk, and capital to accelerate the company's development pipeline.
Construction generates large revenues but slim margins. This business segment is currently being retained to preserve expertise and scale for Lendlease's development business. Lendlease sold its engineering and services business during the pandemic, but retains some risks, notably the Melbourne Metro project which has years to run. It has also divested its retirement living business.

Mr Lombardo has more than 25 years of experience working across real estate development, investment management, finance, mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and strategy in Australia and internationally. He also implemented a range of people focussed initiatives including creation of the Young Indigenous Pathways program, which provides mentoring opportunities for young Indigenous students. In 2016, Tony was appointed Chief Executive Officer Asia based in Singapore. As part of resetting Lendlease Asia's growth strategy, Tony spearheaded a number of major initiatives to drive future growth. Recent successes include the completion of Singapore's S$3.7 billion Paya Lebar Quarter mixed use development, establishment of a US$1 billion data centres joint venture with institutional investor and the listing of S$1 billion global LREIT on the Singapore Exchange. Prior to joining Lendlease, Tony spent almost 10 years at GE with responsibilities across a number of functional disciplines including strategy, M&A and finance for both GE Capital and GE Corporate. Tony commenced his career at KPMG where he worked for more than four years.

Mr Welanetz is based in the US and has executive, advisory, strategic and operational experience in the property and construction sectors gained over an international career spanning over 40 years. In his most recent role, Mr Welanetz served as Chief Executive Officer in the property division of Majid Al Futtaim (MAF), based in Dubai, where he had overall responsibility for managing MAF's property portfolio and development pipeline. Mr Welanetz retired from that position in 2018. Prior to joining MAF, Mr Welanetz spent over seven years in a global role in Blackstone's Real Estate Group advising and identifying acquisition opportunities in retail real estate and providing strategic guidance for Blackstone's portfolio of retail assets and retail operating companies. Mr Welanetz also served as Chief Executive Officer of Shanghai Kinghill Ltd, based in China, with responsibility for the operations and delivery of retail and development projects in mainland China.
