The S&P/ASX 200 Index (ASX: XJO) traded relatively flat for most of Wednesday, ultimately falling 0.16% to close at 7,118 points.

It followed yesterday's news that the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) has hiked interest rates for the twelfth time since May 2022, lifting the nation's cash rate by 0.25% to 4.1%.

The market also heard the news that Australia's gross domestic product (GDP) growth is slowing, rising 0.2% over the March quarter and 2.3% over the 12 months prior, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) data.

Leading the Aussie bourse today was the S&P/ASX 200 Consumer Discretionary Index (ASX: XDJ), rising 0.8%.

The S&P/ASX 200 Information Technology Index (ASX: XIJ) and the S&P/ASX 200 Utilities Index (ASX: XUJ) also performed strongly, gaining 0.6% and 0.4% respectively.

Meanwhile, the S&P/ASX 200 Energy Index (ASX: XEJ) posted the biggest fall, dropping 0.7%.

So, with all that in mind, let's take a look at which ASX 200 shares saw the biggest gains in Wednesday's session.

Today's top-performing ASX 200 share was medical device company Polynovo Ltd (ASX: PNV). It announced it saw a record $7 million in sales in May.
