The S&P/ASX 200 Index (ASX: XJO) started the week out strong, gaining 1% to close Monday's session at 7,216.3 points.
It comes as the market prepares for the Reserve Bank of Australia's (RBA) next interest rate decision, to be handed down tomorrow afternoon.
The consensus appears to suggest rates will be paused in June. Though, the potential for another hike remains following April's shock inflation figures, released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) last week.
Back on the bourse, the S&P/ASX 200 Consumer Discretionary Index (ASX: XDJ) led the way today, rising 1.7%.
The S&P/ASX 200 Materials Index (ASX: XMJ) and the S&P/ASX 200 Energy Index (ASX: XEJ) also outperformed, gaining 1.5% and 0.7%, respectively.
The latter's moves likely had something to do with oil prices, which rose on Friday amid anticipation of Sunday's meeting of the OPEC+, as my colleague Bernd reports.
But not all sectors gained today. The S&P/ASX 200 Information Technology Index (ASX: XIJ) slumped 1.1%.
So, with all that in mind, let's take a look at today's top-performing ASX 200 shares.
