The S&P/ASX 200 Index (ASX: XJO) traded in the red for much of Tuesday, ending the session 0.11% lower at 7,209.3 points.
It came on the back of various public holidays in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany on Monday. Thus, Wall Street, and other major markets, remained closed overnight.
However, there was exciting news hitting the Aussie bourse on Tuesday. Namely, Qantas Airways Limited (ASX: QAN)'s first investor day since 2019 and Wesfarmers Ltd (ASX: WES)'s 2023 strategy day.
Both blue chips posted gains in today's session. Meanwhile, their ASX 200 peer Paladin Energy Ltd (ASX: PDN) wasn't nearly so lucky.
Its share price plummeted 20% before being halted amid news the Namibian government could take a minority stake in mining companies working in the nation. That's where Paladin's Langer Heinrich Mine is located, as my Fool colleague James reports.
Leading the market today was the S&P/ASX 200 Communications Index (ASX: XTJ), gaining 0.6%, while the S&P/ASX 200 Real Estate Index (ASX: XRE) was its biggest weight, falling 0.9%.
So, with all that covered, let's dive into the top-performing shares of the ASX 200 on Tuesday.
