The S&P/ASX 200 Index (ASX: XJO) is kicking into gear this Tuesday after yesterday's depressing start to the trading week. At the time of writing, the ASX 200 has gained a healthy 1.62% so far today, putting the index at around 6,770 points.

So let's delve deeper into these welcome gains and take a look at the ASX 200 shares currently topping the share market's trading volume charts, according to investing.com.

The 3 most traded ASX 200 shares by volume this Tuesday

Lake Resources N.L. (ASX: LKE)

ASX 200 lithium stock Lake Resources is our first share worth taking a glance at this Tuesday. So far today, a hefty 15.47 million Lake shares have been bought and sold on the share market. We did get some news out from the company just after market open this morning.

Lake announced that Scott Munro would be taking up the newly created position of 'senior vice president – technology, strategy and risk'. Perhaps on this news, the Lake share price has rocketed higher today.

It's presently up a pleasing 7.96% at $1.09 a share. It is probably this rise that is driving the high volumes we are seeing here.

Pilbara Minerals Ltd (ASX: PLS)

Another ASX 200 lithium share is next up in Pilbara Minerals, which has seen a sizeable 19.12 million shares swap hands as it currently stands. Again, we can point to some news out of the company here.

As we covered at the time, Pilbara shares initially jumped higher this morning after the company declared that it had accepted a high bid for its lithium spodumene concentrate at its BMX auction.

However, investors' optimism turned out to be fleeting. After jumping as high as $5.02 a share soon after market open, Pilbara is now back in the red, currently down 0.21% at $4.78 a share.

It's probably this pricing volatility that has resulted in the elevated volumes we have seen today.

Core Lithium Ltd (ASX: CXO)

Our third and final share today is yet another ASX 200 lithium share in core Lithium. This session has had a whopping 30.86 million core Lithium shares change owners thus far.

Unlike the other shares on this list today, we have had no fresh news out of Core this Tuesday. Saying that, the company's shares have still been bouncing around a fair bit.

The Core share price opened strongly this morning but had a midday slump which brought it to the breakeven mark.

However, investors have rallied the company again this afternoon, with the Core Lithium share price currently up 4.12% at $1.27 a share.

Once again, it seems we have volatility to thank for this company's presence here.
