Today, the S&P/ASX 200 Index (ASX: XJO) came under pressure as the RBA noted better-than-expected progress towards its inflation target. After the closing bell, the benchmark index was 0.67% lower at 7,420.4 points.

Unfortunately, the far majority of companies in the top 200 finished in the red today. Not a single sector was able to escape the selling pressure. Miners were hit the hardest as commodity prices weakened overnight. Following closely behind were communication services and healthcare shares, also experiencing a disappointing session.

However, the question is: which shares delivered the biggest returns to investors on the ASX today? Here are the ten stocks that rose to the occasion:

Top 10 ASX shares countdown today

Looking at the top 200 listed companies, Imugene Ltd (ASX: IMU) was the biggest gainer today. Shares in the immuno-oncology company climbed 4.35% higher after announcing a new clinical trial supply agreement with Merck KGaA and Pfizer Inc. Find out more about Imugene here.
