The Zoono Group Ltd (ASX: ZNO) share price is rocketing higher this morning after the company announced successful test results against coronavirus COVID-19.

After surging as much as 28.4% in early trade, Zoono shares are now trading 10.2% higher for the day at $1.785.

Zoono is a global biotech company that specialises in the development, manufacture and global distribution of antimicrobial solutions.

What did Zoono announce?

In an announcement to the market today, Zoono revealed it has received a report for the laboratory tests undertaken against COVID-19.

According to the company, the results indicated that Zoono's Z-71 Microbe Shield is more than 99.99% effective against COVID-19. This microbe shield is the same Zoono technology used in its Zoono hand sanitiser.

The company commented that COVID-19 has become a global concern, particularly due to the fact that it been shown to survive on surfaces for up to 9 days.

Zoono added that its products have been successfully tested against a variety of pathogens, for periods of up to 30 days on surfaces and for 24 hours on hands.

The company further noted that its products had been previously tested against bovine coronavirus, however, this latest strain required new testing.

Details of the test performed

Two separate tests were completed to the EN Standard 14476. The first test was against Vaccinia, while the subsequent test was performed against the globally-accepted surrogate for COVID-19, feline coronavirus.

The company added that EN14476 is the European Standard that applies to products within the medical area. This includes hygienic hand rubs, hygienic hand wash and instrument disinfection by immersion. It also includes surface disinfection by wiping and spraying.

Zoono confirmed that the test against Vaccinia achieved greater than 99.99% efficacy for Zoono Z-71 Microbe Shield, while the second test against the COVID-19 surrogate, feline coronavirus, also confirmed greater than 99.99% efficacy.

The company commented that it is very pleased with the results and added that this test further demonstrates the ability of the Zoono technology to be part of the solution to prevent and protect against the spread of the COVID-19 Virus.
