Australia's S&P/ASX 200 (Index: ^AXJO)(ASX: XJO) and ALL ORDINARIES (Index: ^AXAO) (ASX: XAO) indices finished higher on Thursday.

Here's a short recap of the Australian market:

  • ALL ORDINARIES (Index: ^AXAO) (ASX: XAO) higher 0.63% to 6,256.50
  • AUD/USD at US 71 cents
  • Gold at US$1,311.16 an ounce
  • Brent Oil at US$67.67 a barrel

The best-performing ASX 200 share today was Pilbara Minerals Ltd (ASX: PLS), its share price rose 15% after issuing some news to investors.

Pact Group Holdings Ltd (ASX: PGH) shares rose 3% today after the company appointed a new CEO.

Shares of Wesfarmers Ltd (ASX: WES) rose 2.6% with the likelihood of a takeover of Lynas Corporation Ltd (ASX: LYC) looking a little less likely, which fell 1.4%.

The Air New Zealand Limited (ASX: AIZ) share price rose 3.5% today after the airline announced a business update to the market.

ALS Ltd (ASX: ALQ) shares rose nearly 2% thanks to rising optimism about the upcoming result.

Shares of Costa Group Holdings Ltd (ASX: CGC) are up 1.6% with another broker labelling the horticultural business a buy.

Finally, Praemium Ltd (ASX: PPS) shares went up 15.4% today with the fintech company expanding its contract with Morgan Stanley.
