ALL ORDINARIES finishes lower Tuesday: 8 shares you missed

Australia's S&P/ASX 200 (Index: ^AXJO)(ASX: XJO) and ALL ORDINARIES (Index: ^AXAO) (ASX: XAO) indices finished lower on Tuesday.

Here's a short recap of the Australian market:

  • S&P/ASX 200 (Index: ^AXJO) (ASX: XJO) lower 1.01% to 5,713.10
  • ALL ORDINARIES (Index: ^AXAO) (ASX: XAO) lower 1.00% to 5,797.50
  • AUD/USD at US 74 cents
  • Gold at US$1,229.55 an ounce
  • Brent Oil at US$62.19 a barrel

The best-performing ASX 200 share today was gold miner St Barbara Ltd (ASX: SBM), its share price rose by 3.9%.

Syrah Resources Ltd (ASX: SYR) shares gave up the gains from yesterday as it dropped by 8% today.

It wasn't a good day for several other resource-based businesses. One of the worst ASX 200 falls belonged to Western Areas Ltd (ASX: WSA), its share price fell 7.6%. Another big drop was the mining equipment rental business Emeco Holdings Limited (ASX: EHL) which dropped 7.3%.

The Metcash Limited (ASX: MTS) share price fell another 7.2% today after it reported its result yesterday.

Disinfectant healthcare business Nanosonics Ltd (ASX: NAN) was one of the best ASX 200 performers, its share price rose 2.8%.

It was a painful day for shareholders of travel business Webjet Limited (ASX: WEB) who saw their shares fall by 5.9% in value.

Finally, agribusiness Elders Ltd (ASX: ELD) was one of today's leaders, its share price rose by 3.1%.
