Australia's S&P/ASX 200 (Index: ^AXJO)(ASX: XJO) and ALL ORDINARIES (Index: ^AXAO) (ASX: XAO) indices finished higher on Friday.

Here's a short recap of the Australian market:

  • S&P/ASX 200 (Index: ^AXJO) (ASX: XJO) higher 0.60% to 6,165.30
  • ALL ORDINARIES (Index: ^AXAO) (ASX: XAO) higher 0.58% to 6,276.30
  • AUD/USD at US 72 cents
  • Gold at US$1,205.50 an ounce
  • Brent Oil at US$78.41 a barrel

The best-performing ASX 200 share today was rare earth miner Lynas Corporation Ltd (ASX: LYC), its share price went up by 5.5%.

Hot stock Afterpay Touch Group Ltd (ASX: APT) shares went up 4.2% as investors warm to the valuation again.

Data and telco businesses had a good day today with Speedcast International Limited (ASX: SDA) up by 4.9%, Vocus Group Limited (ASX: VOC) went up 3.4% and Nextdc Ltd (ASX: NXT) increased by 3.4%.

Shares of Primary Health Care Limited (ASX: PRY) fell by 2.1% after the Fair Work Commission released a determination regarding the support staff of Dorevitch, Primary's Victoria-based pathology business.

Tassal Group Limited (ASX: TGR) shares will be one to watch after it announced the acquisition of prawn business Fortune Group for $31.9 million.

Finally, the share price of Syrah Resources Ltd (ASX: SYR) fell 3% today – it was the worst performer in the ASX 200 today.
