The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 (Index: ^AXJO) (ASX: XJO) is on course to post another strong gain on Tuesday. In afternoon trade the index is up 0.6% to 6,075 points.
Four shares that have climbed more than most today are listed below. Here's why they are climbing higher:
The Altium Limited (ASX: ALU) share price is up 2.5% to $13.69. Today's gain is likely to be attributable to a note out of Bell Potter which suggested that the printed circuit board design software provider could be the next ASX tech share to be an acquisition target.
The Digitalx Ltd (ASX: DCC) share price has jumped 21% to 34 cents despite there being no news out of the blockchain technology company. However, some investors appear to believe DigitalX's is a great way to gain exposure to cryptocurrency markets and Bitcoin in particular. The Bitcoin price is on a good run again and is nearing US$20,000.
The Helloworld Travel Ltd (ASX: HLO) share price is up 3.5% to $4.95 after announcing plans to acquire Magellan Travel for $32 million. The deal will be funded by a mixture of 65% cash and 35% in Helloworld shares, with the cash component to be funded from existing facilities. This deal is expected to be earnings accretive and to materially increase the volume of TTV.
The Syrah Resources Ltd (ASX: SYR) share price has climbed 3% to $4.41. A good number of shares with exposure to commodities used in electric vehicle batteries are higher today following a positive pricing update by lithium miner Orocobre Ltd (ASX: ORE) on Monday.
