The great thing about the share market is that there are so many shares to choose from. There's so many it's hard to know what to pick.
If I were buying today, I'd choose one (or more) of these:
Greencross Limited (ASX: GXL)
I think the market has been very harsh about Greencross' growth prospects. Other pet giants in the UK and USA have grown well despite Amazon's huge presence there and I think Greencross would be able to handle Amazon here too.
Its co-location strategy of having a Greencross vet inside a Petbarn should reap big rewards over the coming years as the business saves on costs and can cross-sell between customers.
Greencross is currently trading at 13x FY18's estimated earnings with a grossed-up dividend yield of 5.13%.
WAM Microcap Limited (ASX: WMI)
WAM Microcap is the newest listed investment company (LIC) to be launched by Wilson Asset Management. I'm a fan of the investment team and I believe this LIC will do very well by focusing on the small end of the market where not many investors go.
The investment team have already grown the portfolio by 9.4% since it listed in June and I think there's a lot more to come.
BETANASDAQ ETF UNITS (ASX: NDQ)
I think the NASDAQ is home to some of the best businesses in the world. Businesses like Apple, Alphabet, Facebook, Amazon and Microsoft, among others, are some of the most exciting on any stock exchange.
I can't think of another group of shares in another country that will grow as much over the next decade, so I think it's definitely worth having this index as a reasonably sized part of your portfolio.
Foolish takeaway
At the current prices I think all three shares should easily beat the Australian share market index, even if it's a bit rough in the short-term. Personally, I'd choose Greencross because it's probably the best value of the three with a low price/earnings ratio and a good dividend yield.
