The S&P/ASX 200 (Index: ^AXJO) (ASX: XJO) hasn't had the best start to the week and is lower by 0.5% to 5,697 points in early afternoon trade.
Four shares which are going against the grain today and climbing higher are listed below. Here's why they have started the week with a solid gain:
The Mineral Resources Limited (ASX: MIN) share price has climbed 3.5% to $15.52 following the release of a positive research note out of Morgan Stanley. According to the note, the investment bank has retained its overweight rating but increased its price target from $13.35 to $18.00. Morgan Stanley appears to be increasingly bullish on the company's lithium operations.
The Perseus Mining Limited (ASX: PRU) share price is up almost 5% to 34 cents. The majority of Australia's gold miners are higher today after the spot gold price continued to march higher amid rising tensions in North Korea. The spot gold price is currently US$1,333 an ounce, up 6% from this time last month.
The Resapp Health Ltd (ASX: RAP) share price has rocketed 22% to 8.2 cents after the digital healthcare company provided an update on its failed Smartcough C study. According to today's release, further analysis of the data has confirmed that the study was not a representative evaluation of its ResAppDx app. Investors appear optimistic that a restarted study in the U.S. winter will yield a positive result. I would avoid its shares until the results of the new study are released.
The Vocus Group Ltd (ASX: VOC) share price has climbed 4% to $2.37 despite there being no news out of the telco company. But with its shares down 68% since this time last year I wouldn't be surprised if bargain hunters are swooping in. One company that certainly sees value in Vocus is Greencape Capital. On Friday the fund manager increased its stake in the company from 8.1% to 9.2%.
