When it comes to earnings season, the Telstra Corporation Ltd (ASX: TLS) full-year result is arguably one of the most eagerly anticipated each year.
With the Telstra share price down 29% since this time last year, a strong result could be just what its shares need to get them heading in the right direction again.
When will Telstra announce its results?
The telecommunications giant currently plans to announce its FY 2017 result on Thursday August 17.
According to CommSec, the market is expecting earnings per share of 17.5 cents in the second-half.
This will bring its full-year earnings per share to 32.6 cents, down approximately 6.3% from in FY 2016.
As well as its earnings, shareholders will no doubt be looking out for its final dividend.
After all, there has been a lot of speculation recently that Telstra may be forced into cutting its payout. Last year the company paid a fully franked final dividend of 15.5 cents.
