The St Barbara Ltd (ASX: SBM) share price has certainly been a big mover in morning trade.
The leading gold producer's shares have jumped 4% to $3.01 today despite there being no news out of the company.
Much to the delight of its shareholders, this latest jump brings its year-to-date return to over 48%.
A strong rally in the gold price this year due to a weakening U.S. dollar has been the catalyst for the sizeable gain.
At present the spot gold price is US$1,267 an ounce, which is a gain of approximately US$100 or 8.6% since the turn of the year.
St Barbara's key assets include the Leonora Operations in Western Australia and the Simberi mine in Papua New Guinea. Currently it boasts all-in sustaining costs of A$862 per ounce.
