The futures market is pointing to another 10-point decline when the S&P/ASX 200 (Index: ^AXJO) (ASX: XJO) opens this morning, despite a positive night on Wall Street.
Here's a quick recap:
- FTSE 100 (UK): down 0.62%
- DAX (Germany): down 0.14%
- CAC 40 (France): down 0.07%
- Dow Jones (USA): up 0.18%
- NASDAQ (USA): up 0.36%
The Vocus Group Ltd (ASX: VOC) share price won't receive as much attention as it did on Wednesday following a private equity takeover offer, but could still be bid higher by investors who believe there may be another competing offer on the way.
The Auckland International Airport Ltd (ASX: AIA) share price could also receive some attention after it announced a NZ$1.8 billion infrastructure investment to support the continued growth of New Zealand travel and tourism.
Shares across the resources space could be weighed down today. Overnight, the iron ore price slipped 1.1% and the Brent oil price dropped nearly 4%. That could weigh on the BHP Billiton Limited (ASX: BHP) share price, the Fortescue Metals Group Limited (ASX: FMG) share price and the Santos Ltd (ASX: STO) share price, amongst others.
The gold price also slipped 0.6% to around US$1,286 an ounce, which could erase some of the gains enjoyed by Resolute Mining Limited (ASX: RSG) on Wednesday. The shares rose nearly 8% for the session.
Finally, it could also be worth keeping an eye on the Blackmores Limited (ASX: BKL) share price. Blackmores fell 3.6% on Wednesday to close at $89 – down almost 14% since the beginning of the year.
