On the ASX, Telstra shares fell more than 7% while Vocus shares fell over 5%. Shares in the telco companies were sold off following an update from rival TPG Telecom Ltd (ASX: TPM) which said it was successful in acquiring crucial mobile network spectrum. The purchase will see TPG, which also owns iiNet, roll out a 4G network in major Australian cities.
Also in the sea of red, shares of Fortescue Metals Group Limited (ASX: FMG) tumbled 1.8% while Mayne Pharma Group Ltd (ASX: MYX) fell 2.5%.
In positive territory was PUSHPAY FPO NZX (ASX: PPH), Saracen Mineral Holdings Limited (ASX: SAR) and SKY and Space Global Ltd (ASX: SAS) shares were amongst the ASX's best performers.
