ASX preview on Wednesday: 8 shares you need to watch today

The Costa Group share price soared on Tuesday, and could receive more attention today

The S&P/ASX 200 (Index: ^AXJO) (ASX: XJO) will look to extend yesterday's gains with the futures market pointing to an 18-point rise at the open today. The Costa Group Holdings Ltd (ASX: CGC) share price will be in focus after yesterday's 7% rally.

Here's a quick recap:

  • Dow Jones (USA): down 0.03%
  • NASDAQ (USA): down 0.24%

Aside from Costa Group, other companies that could receive more attention today after sharp share price moves during yesterday's session include Reject Shop Ltd (ASX: TRS), which rose 7%, and Asaleo Care Ltd (ASX: AHY), which ended the session 8.4% lower.

The gold stocks ought to receive plenty of focus as well after the gold price roared 1.4% higher overnight, likely to do geopolitical tensions.

Perseus Mining Limited (ASX: PRU) released its quarterly activities report, reporting gold production of 48,655 ounces that exceeded its December quarter production result by 51%.

The PUSHPAY FPX NZX (ASX: PPH) share price will be in focus today after the company announced another record quarter of growth, with annualised committed monthly revenue up US$8.3 million to US$50.5 million.

Travel agency business Flight Centre Travel Group Ltd (ASX: FLT) strengthened its e-commerce capabilities, announcing that it had acquired a 24.1% interest in Bibam, an Argentina-based travel and technology group. The business employs 440 people and generates around US$240 million in total transaction value (TTV), making it Argentina's second largest travel agency group.

Medical Developments International Ltd (ASX: MVP) announced it has signed a new distribution agreement with JSC Lancet to distribute Penthrox in Russia. The MVP share price is up 12% year-to-date but down 14.5% over the past 12 months.

And Cimic Group Ltd (ASX: CIM) has announced three contract wins, including a $108 million contract in India, a $134 million contract at the Junee Correctional Centre in New South Wales and a NZ$113 million contract in New Zealand.
