Local shares rebounded today in following the lead set by international markets overnight. A number of blue chips led the bourse higher, while gold miners also glistened.

- ALL ORDINARIES (Index: ^AXAO) (ASX: XAO) up 0.5% to 5518 points

- Iron Ore at US$58.41 a tonne, according to the Metal Bulletin
- Gold at US$1,262.60 an ounce
- Brent oil at US$52.13 a barrel
BHP Billiton Limited (ASX: BHP) shares faltered today after the miner released its quarterly production results. The shares fell 0.8%.
A number of other miners performed better than BHP, however. South32 Ltd (ASX: S32) gained 4.9%, Whitehaven Coal Ltd (ASX: WHC) rose another 6.7% and Senex Energy Ltd (ASX: SXY) jumped 5.5%.
The gold miners produced strong gains as well. Silver Lake Resources Limited (ASX: SLR) soared 6.7%, Beadell Resources Ltd (ASX: BDR) gained 6.9%, and EVOLUTION FPO (ASX: EVN) rose 3.2%.
Other shares that performed well today include Woolworths Limited (ASX: WOW) and Telstra Corporation Ltd (ASX: TLS), up 1.6% and 1.2%, as well as Tatts Group Limited (ASX: TTS), which soared 15.9%.
Crown Resorts Ltd (ASX: CWN) didn't fare so well, sliding 3%. SKYCITY Entertainment Group Limited-Ord (ASX: SKC) also fell 2.9%, with Nine Entertainment Co Holdings Ltd (ASX: NEC) down 5.5%.
