It can be tough to know which stocks are a buy, hold or sell.
So, to help you out, here are three popular ASX stocks you can consider adding, holding or removing from your portfolio this weekend.
- Telstra Corporation Ltd (ASX: TLS) – Hold
Telstra will likely prove to be an excellent business to hold over the long term. In the short term it could also see its share price drift higher if interest rates proceed lower in 2015 and 2016. However, whilst its fully franked dividend could be seen as an elixir to the low interest rate environment, its share price has run hard in recent times and investors choosing to buy today are exposing their portfolios to too much downside risk, in my opinion.
- Westpac Banking Corp (ASX: WBC) – Sell
Somewhat controversial, I've been saying for more than a year now that Westpac shares are expensive. So far, with its share price climbing higher, I've been proven wrong. However, I continue to believe it is not cheap, especially when we consider the outlook for the economy (including the ripple effects of rising unemployment, and falling mining investment). Unless you bought your shares at a significant discount to the current market price, I'd be inclined to take profits off the table. You can find out more here.
- Coca-Cola Amatil Ltd (ASX: CCL) – Buy
CCA has one of the world's most powerful brand names at its disposal. Together with its right to distribute Beam-branded alcoholic products in the local market, I believe it'll make a steady recovery in the medium term. Indeed, given the recent sell off looks to have ended, now could be a great time to buy. With shares currently trading around $10.50, I continue to believe its valuation is appealing for buyers. Its 3.8% dividend is icing on the cake.
It's important to note that these are simply my opinions and all three of these stocks could go in the opposite to what my recommendations suggest. However I am putting my money where my mouth is. Although I already own Coca-Cola Amatil warrants, I recently bought Coca-Cola Amatil shares for my family's portfolio!
