The S&P / ASX 200 Index (Index: ^AXJO) (ASX: XJO) has climbed 0.8% to 5,275.9, despite falls offshore with the US Dow Jones Industrial Average dropping 0.4% and the S&P 500 losing 0.3%. The rise ended a three-day losing streak, with Telecommunications the only sector to finish in the red.

- Linc Energy (ASX: LNC) rocketed up 9.2% to $1.55
- Evolution Mining (ASX: EVN) climbed 6.7% to 87.5 cents
- Ten Network Holdings (ASX: TEN) rose 5.5% to 29 cents
- David Jones (ASX: DJS) added 4.9% to $2.99
- Northern Star Resources (ASX: NST) closed up 4.8% at 87 cents
These stocks were the losers on the day.
- TPG Telecom (ASX: TPM) dropped 2.9% to $4.32
- Mount Gibson Iron (ASX: MGX) slipped 2.6% to 76 cents
- BlueScope Steel (ASX: BSL) lost 2.4% to $4.79
- Goodman Group (ASX: GMG) slid 2% to $4.85
- Cromwell Property (ASX: CMW) closed down 2% to $1.00
